Taking up from where I had left off, today’s blog is dedicated to Santosh Kumar. Santosh is one of the expert finishers in our facility. A finisher is someone who performs the last step in a manufacturing process. His job is to assemble various pieces and stitch everything up to make an amazing leather bag using high quality threads, brass fittings and zippers. And what a damn good finisher Santosh is!
A couple of weeks back, I had told you about one of the fans of this blog post, Altie058, who had asked me to explain the process of creating leather bags at Soulful Collection.
While I have already discussed about the basic glossary of things surrounding leather, let me now talk about how we create our leather bags through environment-friendly means.
Men have a fascinating connection with the wallet. A wallet or purse helps them organize and keep their daily essentials in place — identity cards, credit cards, cash etc. In fact, wallets may very well be truly signified a man’s best accessory!
That’s why having a particular wallet represents power, influence and attitude in your personality. You make a statement every time you pull out your wallet to pay. Not any purse will do, thank you!
The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe - Gustave Flaubert.
Having a journal and keeping it updated daily has a lot of benefits that you can make use of at all times. Apart from creating a record of your activities, writing in a journal also exudes a therapeutic liberation of sorts. Yes, I’m talking about old-school, pen & paper-based leather journals.
Keeping a journal can be a long-term record of all your thoughts and emotions, long after your hard drive data crashes or your computer dies. Let’s take a look at a few life hacks writing a journal has to offer.
This is my 10th blog of Soulful Collection. Time for some anniversary party, eh? Hurrah! Lol
Of late, I have been really busy in promoting Soulful Collection leather bags and accessories at various expositions, trade fairs etc. So far, we’ve notched up quite a few orders from the US and the UK. So here I come…with zapping work schedule :)
Anyway, in between, I also have to thank you, fellow bloggers and readers, who posted their valuable comments and feedbacks on my blog post. I’m sorry but there’s a bit of a technical glitch that’s stopping us from posting few interesting comments that you guys have posted to me.
One such viewer, Altie058, made few interesting observations about the blogs (Howdy, Altie058!). Alongside, he/she also asked me to explain a bit about how leather bags at Soulful Collection are made, as well as talk about important leather terminology (jargon, parlance, whatever you may call it).
Fair enough, I thought. Maybe what I had missed out earlier was that fundamentally, people need to understand the basic concept behind the process of making leather bags and understand the associated relevant words.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the process of knowing a bit more about the world of leather:
It's the time of festive season across the world – from Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas to Diwali here in India. Also, autumn has arrived, bringing along cool, breezy winds - I totally love it!
So that’s why during this Diwali weekend, I’m gonna enjoy my time by spending it with my husband and daughter, shopping, gorging on sweets and delectable dishes!
That’s why no work for me, I’m gonna sit back, relax and enjoy and NOT blog this time.
But wait, this time, I’ll let Christine do all the talking.
As a rock star, I have two instincts, I want to have fun, and I want to change the world. I have a chance to do both. — Bono
Are you a rock star of your own life?
Tom Hanks summed it up pretty awesomely when he said ‘life is like a box of chocolates’. You never know what will happen next as life is full of surprises.
But a rock star is one who no matter what happens, moves on, fight some battles, enjoy few pleasures and live life to the fullest.
That’s how I live…with style and substance.
And I get my style by doing lots of things – by being a confident individual, dressing up in style, looking good, gaining pearls of wisdom from everyday life stories and using leather bags from my Soulful Collection label.
Designed with such finesse and style, I've been using these leather products for the longest time, receiving many compliments on the way.

Thank you so much for sending in your comments and feedbacks for my last blog on Raju (Here’s the link to that blog). I am overwhelmed by your response to the blog. Like me, so many other people were inspired by his vision to rise above all challenges.
Few days ago, I met two American travelers, Sheryl and Damien Prescott, who visited our Soulful Collection store in New Delhi. They seemed like a happy-go-lucky couple, enjoying myriad experiences they encountered since they landed here (Trust me; every Westerner will vouch for that!)
Kaam karenge tabhi toh aage badhenge. Zindagi humein roz yahi sikhati hai. (Only when we work shall we succeed. This is what life teaches us every day)
This is what Raju, 24, said to me when I met him in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He is one of our many skilled artisans who create leather satchels, messengers, duffels, backpacks and many more for us. My visit was part of meeting our suppliers to work on new designs and product innovations.
Since the time I’ve been going there, I wanted to explore more about the lives of these artisans. They are the hidden gems everyone should know of – how ordinary people with little or no formal educational background produce world-class leather satchels and messengers!
Today’s blog is dedicated to Raju and many other skillful workers. Despite all odds, they rose to the occasion and brought hope into their lives.
The month of spook has begun. I’m talking about the Halloween, guys!
America’s upcoming favorite holiday, Halloween, is really a fascinating story of ghosts and spirits mixed with humor and fun!
Since my childhood, I have been pretty curious about the concept of supernaturalism, ghosts and the likes of it. And Halloween comprises every bit of these elements. But make no mistake, I love horror films! Anything to do with horror, I love to explore it. In fact, so many of my favorite films are horror-based – The Conjuring, Insidious, The Grudge etc.
There are many layers attached to this festival – ushering in of winter season from fall, concept of life and death, celebration and superstition etc. So much so that from an ancient holiday, Halloween has become more about gatherings, costumes and sweet treats than actual ghosts and ghouls.
Between decorative lights, lawn ornaments and becoming total zombies (with makeup!), the week-long celebrations also involve the community gatherings, family holidays, exchange of gifts and whatnot.
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
And how true it was meant to be…
This quote from the great Brazilian author (and one of my favorites) single-handedly inspired me to make my dream of creating Soulful Collection a reality. From moments of panic and desperation to utter chaos, the one thing that kept me going while I was creating this venture was many quotes of his.
And that’s the power of words that authors create in shaping our lives!
The other day I read somewhere that November 1 is National Authors’ Day - an event celebrated to show appreciation for the extraordinary hard work put in by the American authors behind your favorite writings.
While Coelho was not American, I believe we should commemorate Authors’ day for all the great writers worldwide who have influenced millions of us through their words and memorable quotes.
Hello people! Greetings to everyone!!
My name is Shalu (pronounced Sha-loo, just in case you don’t mess it up, lol). As the owner of Soulful Collection and an avid blogger myself, I welcome you all into the exciting world of all that is leather.
Through these blogs, I hope to showcase witty, quirky and always fascinating information about leather bags, satchels, messengers, laptop bags and other handcrafted, eco-friendly products.
But enough of that, lemme tell you a joke now. Here it goes:
Wife: Our new neighbor always kisses his wife when he goes to work, why don't you do that? Husband: How can I? I don't even know her.
Men, Men, Men...I tell ya
